A Light to Remember

October 15th is nationally recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. The Escambia County Healthy Start Coalition will be remembering these lives lost on Sunday, October 15th, 2023 at Bayview Park Community Center from 6:30-7pm. All are welcome.

The event will include music by Isabelle Peterson, Music Director of Holy Cross Church, a Reading of the Names, a candlelight vigil, and a flower release on the Bayou Texar.

Much like a balloon release, a flower release is a symbolic gesture to honor loved ones we have lost and remember that their spirit is still amongst us. Healthy Start will provide flower petals for all families and community members to remember those babies who have a special place in their hearts, though they are not with us anymore. Bubbles will also be available for siblings and children.

We will join others across the nation in creating a Wave of (candle) Light together and read off the names of those gone too soon accompanied by a reading of remembrance. There will be the opportunity to submit names on the day of the event and can be submitted in advance to the Healthy Start Coalition.
