Do you have to plan a party with a mix of children who don’t know each other? Perhaps your children have to attend a gathering where you don’t know many people?

That can be daunting and a little scary if you don’t have a buddy with you. Bring or suggest this party icebreaker game for kids to get to know each other better. The tasks in the game are fun and meant to be amusing. The game will get kids (and adults) moving around and laughing.

Give this a try or use it as a starting guide. Customize your own game for a special occasion.

Kids’ Icebreaker Game (up to age 11): Let’s Learn About Each Other

1. Siblings
Step to this side if you have an older sibling.
Step to this side if you ARE the older sibling.
Smile really big if you are an only child.

2. Pets
Lean forward if you have a dog or multiple dogs.
Lean back if you have a cat or multiple cats.
Move your hips into a circle if you have other animals (chickens, goats, bird, turtle, etc.).

3. Pizza
Raise one hand if you like pizza.
Raise your other hand if you like pepperoni on your pizza.
Jump up and down with your hand or hands up if you like pineapple on your pizza.

4. What ride would you choose? You must choose one.
Put your elbows out if want to ride a rollercoaster.
Put your arms by your sides if you would prefer a waterslide.

5. What day of the week do you like best—Saturday or Monday?
Stick your right foot out if it’s Saturday.
Raise your hand if it’s Monday.

6. Would you rather? Explore Space or the Ocean. You must choose one.
Raise your pinky if you want to explore space.
Sit down if you want to explore the ocean.

7. Who would you rather meet? Spiderman or The Hulk?
Make a spider face if you want to meet Spiderman.
Put up your muscles if you want to meet The Hulk.

8. Would you rather pet a penguin or a porcupine?
Waddle like a penguin if that’s what you choose.
Stick your arms outward if you choose a porcupine.

9. Would you rather be able to fly or be able to walk through walls?
Flap your arms if you choose flying.
Put your hand on your forehead if you choose walking through walls.

10. Did you think this game was fun?
If yes, shake your booty.
If no, make a sourpuss face.

These are silly, friendly ways that you can help kids learn more about each other. While playing, they can see what they have in common and how they differ. It’s meant to be a conversation starter that they can continue even after they stop playing.
