Shopping for a Cause—Sip • Shop • Savor Market Basket

Market Basket, presented by the Junior League of Pensacola, has a long, local legacy and holds a special place in many women’s hearts. It is and always has been so much more than a market for Christmas shopping. It’s a much-anticipated event that brings women together to ring in the holiday season! Families are drawn into the event because there are festivities for children (including ample delicious food tastings) and a place to park the non-shoppers with a cool beverage. As we know, this year has turned everything upside-down, and Market Basket is no different. In an unconventional year, the Junior League has found new ways to come together, support the community, and take a little shopping frenzy out of the holiday season.

Market Basket is “Shopping for a Cause.” When you participate in Market Basket, you support the Junior League’s mission that focuses on the health and wellness of women and children in the community. Proceeds from the Silent Auction contribute so much to community causes and provide a great opportunity to support local! You don’t just walk away with an amazing spa package or a steal on a vacation getaway; you leave knowing you’ve made a difference.

My personal event favorite is the vendor fair. Not only do I enjoy bringing local artisans and owners together, but I am proud to be one of them! I’m grateful and excited to have been a coordinator and vendor for Market Basket for three years in a row. It’s amazing to have a team of people making certain the event runs smoothly for both customers and vendors. Market Basket aims to be next-level shopping, and it does not disappoint! Many vendors return year after year because their experience and success reflect upon the League’s overall mission.

This year, the team has gone above and beyond to venture into new territory: the virtual market place. Local volunteers are coming together to ensure this event will be a success and carry on the Market Basket legacy. Despite these uncertain times, events like Market Basket help us thrive and encourage community building. There will be music and Christmas cheer as our digital hosts guide you through the entertainment and silent auction. I’m sure there will be surprises up their sleeve, but you’ll have to tune in November 19th-22nd to see how you can virtually sip – shop – savor with us!
