FINALLY! The holiday season has arrived and the festivities can begin. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I think we are all ready! Can I get an AMEN?!
And although it may look a little different this year with social distancing and CDC suggestions, remember: There will be turkey. There will be stuffing. AND THERE WILL BE PIE! (Oh, how it speaks to my soul)
There are generally two schools of thought when it comes to Thanksgiving:
1) Everything must be homemade with sacred, traditional family recipes
2) How do I simplify things and just get it made?
Now, I will be honest with you and confess I have always leaned towards the traditional route; however, with Easter this year (when we were in the midst of quarantine and shut-downs) I felt the compelling need to blend traditional with simplified. The result was one heck of a holiday feast mostly courtesy of a great Pensacola restaurant.
So, here I am a reformed traditionalist telling you there is indeed a third way, a hybrid way, to ensure that everyone, including the cook, enjoys one of the best days of the year.
Whether you are looking for a full-menu catering option or to just blend some pieces with your own recipes, here is the PMC’s list of go-to’s for a great Thanksgiving to-go!
J’s Bakery – 2014 North 12th Avenue
This famous bakery has a whole assortment of made from scratch PIES (be still my heart): pumpkin, apple, sweet potato, apple, Dutch apple, cherry and pecan. Not to mention their chocolate cream and coconut cream pies.
If pies are not your thing (gasp), they will also be offering tres leche, banana pudding, southern coconut cake, German chocolate cake, red velvet cake, and carrot cake.
If you want something unique, they are even available for custom cakes. In addition to helping with your dessert of choice, their famous rolls are also available for order.
Five Sister Blues Cafe – 421 West Belmont
This “grab-and go” dinner package is based on a six person meal and includes turkey, green bean casserole, garlic mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, gravy, and dinner rolls.
The package is $65 plus tax with orders being taken all the way up to Monday, November 23.
Aragon Cafe – 47 North 9th Avenue
They are offering what they have dubbed their “Butts and Birds Special”. Orders are being taken now for smoked Boston butt, smoked turkey, or spiral ham. They also have al a carte sides (macaroni and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and collard greens) in various sizes.

Union Public House – 309 South Reus Street
This yummy establishment is offering a Thanksgiving version of their take n’ bakes and yall, the possibilities are endless here.
There are appetizers like Smoked Mahi Dip, Pimento Cheese Hushpuppies, or Grouper Cakes to name a few. Then main dish options like the traditional turkey or a different option like: Confit Duck Legs, Sous Vide Fillet of Beef, Bacon Wrapped Smoked Pork Loin, or Molasses Cured Pork Butt. Side dish options include: their own versions of green bean casserole, a truffled parmesan, mozzarella and goat Cheese Macaroni, Collards, and sausage, white cheddar, sage stuffing to name a few. And yes, they offer sweets AND cocktails!

IRON – 22 North Palafox Street
With southern flare and a contemporary twist, the Restaurant IRON dining experience elevates Downtown Pensacola’s culinary offerings to a new standard. The theme is locally-sourced, hand-made, and detail-focused for every recipe prepared in our open kitchen and presented by a knowledgeable and professional staff in a comfortable, yet elegant, southern-inspired setting.
There food is stand out and we are lucky that they are offering some sides/deserts to go for our Thanksgiving table this year. Click this link to complete the online form and all orders will be available for pickup on Tuesday the 24th & Wednesday the 25th, from 2-6 PM.
Craft Bakery – 5555 N. Davis Hwy. Suite H
This gourmet bakery is offering options to help you with sweets and specialty breads. There pies come in either a 7.5 inch or 9 inch with options including traditional flavors along with chocolate peanut butter and PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE y’all!
Additionally, there is an option for chocolate and almond croissant bread pudding and sugar cookies. There options for breads include dinner rolls, baguette, challah, and a yummy cranberry walnut loaf. AND If you need to feed the family in the morning, they have a half dozen cinnamon roll option.

Nancy’s Catering and Events – 555 Scenic Highway
While Skopelos remains closed due to Hurricane Sally, Executive Chef Gus Silivos is still preparing the perfect meal for you this year — but this time it’s at your house! Enjoy Chef Silivos’ full Thanksgiving Take Home menu including whole roasted or sliced turkey, honey glazed ham, various casseroles, stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, gourmet mac & cheese, buttermilk mashed potatoes, an array of pies & cakes, fresh baked breads, and more!

Pensacola’s beloved “shiny diner” is cooking up all of the southern, feel-good Thanksgiving dishes you crave this Thanksgiving — and it’s all to-go!
Pre-order everything from the main event 12-14 and 18-20 pound turkey, to sliced turkey & honey glazed ham, and fixin’s like collard greens, creamed corn, stuffing, candied yams, sweet potato casserole, green beans, black eyed peas, and the list goes on, plus 13 different glorious pies/cakes.

Cracker Barrel – 8050 Lavelle Way
If you order from Cracker Barrel’s Thanksgiving Heat and Serve menu this year, they are offering a $10 bonus gift card as appreciation.
They have four bundle dinner options. The first being The Thanksgiving Heat and Serve which serves 4-6. This is their turkey breast dinner with dressing, gravy, two sides, cranberry relish, and yeast rolls. The larger version, The Thanksgiving Heat and Serve Feast, offers an extra turkey breast, three sides, and pumpkin and pecan pies.
If turkey is not your thing, they have you covered as well with their Holiday heat and serve and it’s variation of the “Feast” option that offers a sugar cured ham.
In addition to their bundles, they have a la carte turkey breast or ham, and various sides including three cheese squash casserole, cranberry relish, and rolls as well as their famous pumpkin, pecan, chocolate pecan, and apple pecan streusel PIE!!!!!

This Nine Mile restaurant has various options for helping or covering the whole menu. You can order a smoked turkey, feast for 6, or feast for 12. The Feast options come with cornbread dressing, gravy, cranberry, and a choice of one of their “legendary” sides in various sizes (gris-gris greens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato soufflé, or even red beans and rice to name a few.)
They also have a la cart sides by the pint, quart, or gallon.

Milton Quality Bakery – 6727 East Caroline Street
This award-winning bakery is famous for their sweet treats! They have options for your sweet treats for either post-meal or morning of. Options include: pumpkin spice cake donuts, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pies, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, and a coconut meringue pie.
They close by 12 PM Thanksgiving day, so be sure to call and get your orders in time.
Cafe Nola – 400 Quietwater Road
If you’re needing little bit of the Big Easy for your Thanksgiving feast, this beach location has you covered with individually priced menu options ranging from crawfish and andouille dip, seafood or chicken gumbo, Gambino’s French bread, whole Cajun fried turkey, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, oyster dressing, green bean and artichoke casserole, and shrimp and crab macaroni and cheese.
There are many other options too including main entrees of prime rib or beef tenderloin. All orders must be placed by November 18 and pickup is available either November 24 or 25.
Grand Marlin – 400 Pensacola Beach Boulevard
This beautiful beach restaurant will be offering dine-in and takeout options. For the to-go menu, which serves four, they are offering a dinner starting with a creamy mushroom bisque, broccoli crowns, molasses whipped sweet potato casserole, whipped mashed potatoes, herbed cornbread stuffing, mixed greens with vinaigrette, brined turkey breast with gravy, cranberry-orange relish and a choice of with a 10 inch apple or pumpkin PIE!
The price is $150 for 4.
Finally, friends, just remember, whether you cook it all or cater it all, this is a season of celebration and joy (and PIE), so it will be perfect any way you slice it.
