We’ve all heard the old adage “You can’t pour from an empty cup” or “You can’t give what you don’t have.”
Being a mom is a full-time job and an exhausting one at that. All the more reason that it’s vital for us to be taking care of our bodies and doing it in a way that we enjoy.
Working out has tons of benefits, and it’s an example I want to set for my son.
Luckily, there are plenty of places and plenty of ways to work out in Pensacola that cater to moms and our busy schedules.
From gyms to studios, here are some of the best places to work out in Pensacola.
I did you one better than just a list. I made a map. Check out this map to find somewhere near you that you’ll love. We all know if it’s on our way somewhere or close to home, we’re way more likely to go.
Gyms
Pensacola Athletic Center
An oldie but a goodie. This gym is found on Hwy. 98 and has recently gotten some major updates. This is a great gym on the west side of town that has a pool and everything you need to get that body moving. They have a great 24-hour option, child care, tennis, group fitness classes, and everything you need to get out of your own way to make time and space for exercise.
Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA
A gym WITH childcare?! Yes, please! A family membership at the YMCA comes with a couple of hours of childcare in the Kidzone so you can work out and your little one can tag along. Another perk is their great aquatic center. This includes a lap pool, shallow pool, Zumba water classes (way more fun than you’d think!), and a waterslide that you just have to request to turn on whenever you’d like.
Anytime Fitness
A 24/7 favorite with multiple locations around town. All the basic gym equipment but with an awesome 24/7 option if you want to sneak out after bedtime to get a workout in.
Studios
Studios are an area that our local moms particularly love and where Pensacola really shines. The options and varieties are endless and so customizable that it makes it easy to find something that you’ll love.
Pure Barre
Pure Barre is a boutique fitness studio that specializes in barre workouts. These workouts combine elements of ballet, Pilates, and yoga to create a low-impact, full-body workout. Pure Barre also offers classes that are tailored specifically to moms, such as “Pure Empower” which focuses on cardio and strength training.
Childcare is included with Unlimited Memberships!
Wild Lemon
Owned and operated by a local woman Wild Lemon is a studio that proudly supports “all bodies, all ways, always.” Wild Lemon offers small group fitness classes at two locations in East Hill. Their original location on 12th Avenue is where you can find small group fitness such as TRX, yoga, mat pilates, and stretch and release classes.
Their newest location on Scott Street is all about Pilates reformer classes. Still offered in small groups, the Pilates reformer is a whole new way to get in tune with your body and get a great workout.
Ride Society
I’ve heard how addicting these classes can be, and after going a couple of times, I can see why. Everyone is so happy to be there! On a bike at 5am doing choreography with fun, upbeat music with all your friends?! Say less. These classes definitely take some practice, but once you’ve got it, you’ll see what the hype is all about.
Pure Pilates
Pure Pilates has locations in both Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Your first class is free, so you can check out the studio and get your feet wet! Pilates can be intimidating: using muscles you didn’t know you had and oftentimes equipment where you’re not sure which way is up. The instructors are Pure Pilates make getting into pilates fun and addicting! It’s a must-try.
Lovelock Healing Arts
Massages, classes for kids, meditation, barre, yoga! This studio right in downtown Pensacola is a wellness collective. They have classes specifically for prenatal mamas, classes to bring your littles to, and classes that will help you take care of yourself so you can take care of the little people you’re responsible for. We love the broad selection of options here and the abundant support for moms!
Crossfit / Group Fitness
FIT
Fitness Impact Training offers a free evaluation to help you get the right workouts for your goals and your fitness level. They have a group of experienced trainers on deck to keep the coaching going in each of the classes they offer.
Fixed on Fitness
My friends in Pace and Milton rave about Fixed on Fitness. They offer private sessions, group sessions, an open gym, and a community that keeps people coming back.
Revolt Fitness
This Crossfit gym takes all the intimidation of Crossfit away. I’ve been to several of their classes and always felt welcome and encouraged. They boast a strong community and coaches that fit every personality. Owners Kat and Omar have created a safe place where anyone is welcome to come learn how to lift heavy weights and do it safely.
Orange Theory
This popular franchise can be found on Davis Highway. Orange Theory is popular for a reason. It meets you where you are and gets the work done every time. They have coaches that get you through each workout that includes rowing, cardio, and strength training. The coaches keep you motivated to keep coming back to get your health on track!
Finding time and energy to work out can be a challenge. However, with so many great options to work out in Pensacola, there are plenty of choices to fit into a busy schedule.
Whatever your preference, it can be found somewhere nearby.
Even better to keep in mind is most of these places have free or heavily discounted trials. They want you to come and see if they’re a good fit for what you’re looking for, so take advantage of all those free trials and shop around!
Don’t forget Beachlife fitness! They’re on the west side but great classes and not too pricey!
I’ve loved Burn Boot Camp for the past 3 years!! They’re one of the only gyms/boot camps in the area that have childcare included in the cost. The trainers are great at modifying anything and they’re great at pushing you to be better than when you walked in!
In Pace/Milton we have 3P Fitness and SRC Fitness that both offer group crossfit classes WITH childcare included in the price of membership! Couldn’t get a workout in without it.
Essentially Fit off Plantation road. The owner is also a Postpartum Pelvic Floor therapist. All privates and small group classes incorporate safe exercises and strength training for new moms and all women that have pelvic floor issues.
